The town of Hancock, New Hampshire,
is the oldest town in America to host a National Radio Astronomy
Observatory antenna. It is a wooded area, beautiful in the
autumn, with its share of snow in the winter. Occasionally enough
snow will settle in the dish that the array operator in Socorro
will have to turn the antenna to dump it. There is also a program
the operator can use to have the dish track the sun when ice in
the dish becomes a problem.
