Data Acquisition signal path:
Communications

The VLBA site communicates with the Array Operations Center, and the array operator, via the Internet. The monitor data from each site is sent to the operations computer known as Jansky.

In case the Internet communication goes down, each site also has two dial up modems; a 56Kb modem that is routed through the SmartSwitch, and a 2400b modem that is the last line of communication with the site, in case the SmartSwitch dies.
