EOP ERROR: The Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP) used on the VLBA correlator are normally updated daily from a Goddard site. There was a period between about March 19 and April 24 when this automated process was not working and that fact was not noticed. Observations whose correlator job scripts were made during that period were likely to have been correlated using rather long look-ahead values of EOP, rather than measured values. Job scripts are prepared after the observation and usually shortly before correlation. From past experience, we know that using predicted EOP can adversely affect phase referencing projects. Affected users will be notified directly. Any users who care about relative phase between sources should run the EOP correction routines. In AIPS this is done with the procedure VLBAEOPS (loaded with VLBAUTIL) or with CLCOR, the main task called by VLBAEOPS. In practice, all users who care about phases, usually for phase referencing, should make this correction a normal part of their processing in order to have the best possible EOP values.
