Wideband tests - consists of templates to create pointing-like files that run through all the tune-able frequencies. There are separate templates for each band. e.g. w1cm.com for 1 cm , w20cm for 20cm, wsx.com for 13/4cm with ellipsoid, etc. - need to run when a new receiver is installed, or if frequency-related problems with a receiver is suspected. - try to pick good weather, antenna doesn't need to point - files should be created in /home/aspen6/wideband/mmmyy directory. - after observations, a copy of the VLBA op. log shuld be placed with obs files on /home/aspen6/wideband/mmmyy - "fit" should be run, with apprpriate inputs - outfile should have a name identical to obs files (i.e. woct16u), with a .tsm extention. - run ptanal with the appropriate inputs or use the script: /home/aspen6/wideband/wptanal - use ghostview (gv) to view plots. - link ps files to Data quality web page by running /home/aspen6/wideband/convert2ps - create maint report for any problems detected during test Example for making 20cm widband test files and processing 1. cd /home/aspen6/wideband/oct02 2. cp ~/STDFILES/w20cm.com woct18l.com (where w = wideband, oct18 is date of test, l = 20cm) 3. emacs woct18l.com and edit the following lines: year = 2002 month = 10 day = 18 start = 2:00:00 opdur = 11:00:00 ! Total project duration expcode = woct18l 4. at unix prompt, type: woct18l.com This will create files for all the VLBA stations. 5. copy the files to the VLBA obs directory by typing: cp woct18lcrd.* ~/OBS To process 6. cd /home/aspen6/wideband/oct02 run the "fit" program, entering the appropriate timerange and station inputs (note: the outfile name must have an extention of .tsm) 7. type /home/aspen6/wideband/wptanal woct18l This step takes the data organized by the "fit" program, runs it through ptanal and prepares the postscript plots. 8. check the plots with ghostview, if problems, write up maint form. 9. Rename the plots so they have an extension of .ps This will make them appear on the Data Quality Web page. Run the script: /home/aspen6/wideband/convert2ps toct18l
