The main point is that the positions in the schedule are not those we will want to use for correlation, and we may also request that the correlation parameters listed in the schedule are also changed. So, at the moment we are not in a position to correlate the data optimally. Please dont use the correlation info presented in the schedule. cheers Mike. From garrett@jive.nlMon Jan 10 16:36:55 2005 Date: Sat, 8 Jan 2005 09:27:54 +0100 (MET) From: Mike Garrett To: "VLBI Observers (Aspen only)" , Scheduling Officer Cc: Joan Wrobel , Lorant Sjouwerman Subject: Correlation of BK121A and B Dear Schedsoc/Vlbiobs - I would like to request priority correlation for BK121A and B (see message appended below). I would also like to change the correlation parameters (see details below). The correlation of BK121A and B is different from that specified in the Sched Correlator information section or the proposal coversheet. The changes are detailed below. Other aspects remain the same. Here is the new correlator info: ! ========================================================== ! ============== Correlator Information ================== ! ========================================================== correl = 'Socorro' coravg = 0.5 corchan = 64 cornant = 12 corpol = 'off' corwtfn = 'uniform' cortape = DAT corship1 = 'Mike Garrett' corship2 = 'Postbus 2' corship3 = '7990AA Dwingeloo, The Netherlands' cornote1 = ' ' !The changes seek to run the correlator at its max. o/p data rate. The !number of passes remains the same - a single pass is requested. ! !The GBT observed too (at least in BK121B), making corant=12 ! !We no longer request cross-polarisation products - "corpol=off" ! SOURCE POSITIONS: The correlator source position for the target SGR 1806-20 has changed. The position we would now like to use is: SOURCE='SGR1806-20' RA=18:08:39.34716 Dec=-20:24:39.9612 EQUINOX='J2000' CALCODE=N / The other source positions remain the same (as provided in the schedules). A message justifying priority correlation follows: Date: Fri, 7 Jan 2005 17:50:13 +0100 (MET) From: Mike Garrett To: ulvesta@nrao.edu, Joan Wrobel Subject: Correlation of BK121A & B Dear Jim and Joan - as you know there is a lot of excitement w.r.t. recent results on SGR1806-20. Many groups are gearing up to publish the results. I'm worried that the VLBA data will "miss the boat" w.r.t. the other real-time instruments. Can I request that some extra priority be given to the correlation/check-out of the BK121A and BK121B data sets ? How do I go about justifying this request ? cheers Mike. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Garrett (garrett@jive.nl & www.jive.nl/~mag) Director JIVE _______ ________ Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe / / _/ | / / ____/ Postbus 2, 7990 AA Dwingeloo, NL. __ / // / | | / / __/ Phone (office): +31 (0)521 596511 / /_/ // / | |/ / /___ Mobile: +31 (0)621 201417 \____/___/ |___/_____/ Fax: +31 (0)521 596539 "The world is my country, science my religion" - Christiaan Huygens.
