Was able to reach the modem at the site but was unable to connect to the SmartSwitch, which would allow communication with the site VME computer. Unable to monitor conditions at the site. Called site tech Doug Whiton, he will go out to the site and see what is going on with the VME / SmartSwitch. The weather there is bad (freezing rain and snow). Told site tech to call Operations when he arrives. 0523 VCLOCK check for KP was okay 0530 HN site tech is on site, can see nothing obviously wrong with the VME. He did a reboot, comm is still down. Pinging the site has no effect. Traceroute dies attempting to reach the router. Doug seems to think that the problem is with the phone system coming into the site. He is going to do some more checking of the comm equipment. 0626 HN Doug called. He said that he could ping to all the equipment internal to the site (ie the various PCs and routers), but could not ping external of the site. He was able to dial into jansky (operation workstation) through the 2400 baud MIKE modem. I dailed into the site through the MIKE modem and again was unable to connect to the SmartSwitch. Doug reported that the modem there said it was "FREE" as if I wasn't actually connected? Doug also reported that he called AT&T and they said that it looked like there was a problem with their equipment and was going to have someone look into it. Went on dial backup again at 0626. 0645 New operator is Paul Dyer. 0650-0651 *HN Put antenna in standby briefly to clear ACU 100 1 an EL #2 armature overcurrent fault. 0655-0656 *HN Put antenna in standby briefly to clear ACU 100 1 an EL #2 armature overcurrent fault. 0659-0700 *HN Put antenna in standby briefly to clear ACU 100 1 an EL #2 armature overcurrent fault. 0702-0704 *HN EL #2 armature overcurrent again.
