Site tech has been called out and is on the way. 0215-0221 *PT lost comm as well, unable to point. COM 100 6 0215 %MK has 35+ mph wind gusts. 0218 NL site tech called, says VME is dead. Site unusable. 0235 New operator: T. Perreault 0310 NL called Mike (site tech) to get more information 10511 about what happened with the VME at the site. He said that as soon as the VME is booted, the FAIL lights appear and the VME crashes. He does not think that it is a hard disk problem in that he can hear the drive spin up and it sounds "normal". I decided to attempt to run the site "diskless" (from operator workstation jansky). When I dialed into the site on the MIKE modem (2400 baud dialup), I got a "NO CARRIER" message. I called Mike (site tech) again, he said that when he cycled power on the VME, that he heard the modem dial out and then ring several times before stopping. He did not cycle power on the modem or leave it turned off. Suspect that one of the boards in the VME has died, and replacement will not get there before Tuesday at the earliest. 0330 Called Dave Medcalf to report about the problem with NL VME. 0416 PT bad readback drive 1 track 4 All others okay 0428 %SC wea: raining 0616 Readback check okay 0745 MK wea: peak winds of 18 m/s - pointing will be affected.
