VERY LONG BASELINE ARRAY OBSERVING LOG -------------------------------------- Project: BT094D Observer: Taylor, G. Project type: VLBA Obs filename: bt094dcrd.* Date/Day: 2008FEB16/047 Ants Scheduled: SC HN NL FD LA PT KP OV BR MK =UT-Time===Comment===============================================MF#===%AD==AMD= Operator is A. Sowinski. UT1-UTC -0.32, gps delta and vclock okay. *KP Snowing, snow covering half of dish. %HN There is a little snow/ice in dish. 0115 Begin, except at MK. 0115-0130 *KP Unable to get the FRM to move in rotation. WEA 100 15 0119-0122 *NL FRM rotation motor foldback. WEA 100 3 0124-0125 *HN FRM rotation motor foldback. 22193 100 1 All these FRM errors are due to ice and snow. 0128-0135 *NL FRM rotation error. WEA 100 7 0130-1815 *Ending project at KP, completely unable to move the FRM in rotation. 0137-0138 *OV ACU motor current error, cleared. ACU 100 1 *It is taking HN up to about a minute for the FRM at HN to get into position after most of the scan changes. *NL is usually about the same, sometimes worse. 0152 Begin at MK. 0230-0435 *OV FRM Focus 2nd screw fault. 22249 100 125 Focus brake won't disengage, but position drifts over about 10 millimeters anyway. I called the site tech and left a message, even though this this probably requires work on the FRM, which can't be done at night. For a while, the FRM was stuck more or less in the 2cm position, now it's drifted and isn't anywhere useful. 0330 OV Site tech going to investigate. 0435 OV Fixed, for now at least. It was an electrical problem, not mechanical. 0437 *BR Precipitation. 0554 *PT Snowing. 0643 New operator is Heidi Gerhardt 0700-1441 *FD unclearable focus brake fault, error ranges FRM 80 368 from 0-10 sometimes. 0705-1115 *NL is having a difficult time with locking on the FRM 70 175 correct rotation probably due to ice. I'm getting many frm errors, so I may take out if it doesn't get any better. 0827 *PT precipitation starting 1115-1815 *NL taken out due to bad FRM errors probably caused FRM 100 420 by ice. 4.6F at dish very cold, bad for dish. 1441 New Operator: Paul Padilla 1441-1815 *HN FRM not making it to Rotation position for 4cm FRM 33 70 scans - FRM moving too slowly due to cold 1700 %FD high winds 1755 SC ends 1815 End. Downtime Summary: Total downtime : 1185 min Percentage downtime of observing: 11.6% Average downtime per hour : 7.0 min Total scheduled observing time (# Antennas): 10200 min (10) Notes: * = Entries where data was affected. % = Entries where data may have been affected. & = Entries where the site tech was called out. WEA = Weather entries. MF# = Maintenance form or major downtime category associated with a problem. %AD = The percentage of an antenna affected by a problem. AMD = Total antenna-minutes downtime for a problem.
