Observations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Doing Phase Referencing for 8 GHZ (3.6 cm) ! Using 256 Mb/s to help phase referencing. ! ! Observing sequence is as follows: ! T AF T AF T ! where T=target, A=amplitude, and F=fringe ! ! For each target galaxy observed in a T, there is a sequence of phase ! calibrator, target, phase, target, ... , phase, check, target, phase, ! target, .... The check source observations are roughly in the middle ! of the target sequence since the target observations are long. Part ! of the plan of this deep integration on these mJy sources is to try ! to reduce the data in multiple ways to see if the results are similar. ! One of these ways will be to only use a few hours of data to do the ! imaging and self-calibration, to verify to the TAC that mJy sources ! can indeed be observed *reliably* with only a few (or less) hours ! on source. For this sequnce, I will need to take partial chunks of ! each of the three target sequences to reduce the total integration ! time to the proposed 0.5 hr level. ! ! Full observations should give better than ! Target RMS(\mu Jy) S/N Phase Ref Check ! NGC 5866 65 54 J1510+5702 J1507+5117 ! assuming decent weather, electronics, etc. ! ! Observing at 256 Mb/s, will only spend ~4/sqrt(2) min on Amplitude ! sources. J1310+3220 > 1.5 Jy on all baselines, ! so this should be fine. ! ! Fringe finder source is being left at 240 s. ! ! ! We are continually doing 8 GHz, but for my convenience in using this ! file as a template for future observations, I will keep the redundant ! setup commands ! ! Target Set 1 ! It's early, so only the first two sources are up. ! !
