VERY LONG BASELINE ARRAY OBSERVING LOG -------------------------------------- Project: BB231D Observer: Braatz, J.A. Project type: VLBI Obs filename: bb231dcrd.* Date/Day: 2006DEC30/364 Ants Scheduled: SC HN NL FD LA PT KP OV BR MK GB EB =UT-Time===Comment===============================================MF#===%AD==AMD= 0405 Begin file VCLOCK check ok. BR at 1.569 (pint 3.082 seconds) UT1-UTC check ok. (0.04) GPS delta < 10 us Operator: T. Perreault *Possibly heavy amounts of snow in dishes at LA and KP. PT and BR probably also have some snow. 0405-1357 *FD not observing. Broken AZ#1 drive axle. 19601 100 592 0405 SC when antenna was initally pointed, got high (40 amps +) EL motor currents on both EL#1 and EL#2 motors. Disabled and re-enabled the EL axis, high currents continued. Put antenna into STANDBY and then repointed, high currents continued. Stowed antenna and contaced oncall site tech. As I was showing Betty (Correlator Op) what happened, I repointed the antenna and the EL motor currents were perfectly fine. Contacted oncall tech again, he said that there has been problems with the EL motors a week or so ago and to call back if there were any more problems. 0405 %LA and KP EL motor current sums intermittantly going over 20 amps due to snow in dishes from winter storm. Current sums are about 25 amps. 0405 PT sporadic building UPS battery alarm; suspect transient power glitches. 0647 New operator is Jim Ogle. 0653 %Putting MK antenna into Standby mode to save wear and tear on motors, sources are all below the horizon for another 40 minutes. 0702 *Snowing at LA. 0728 Repointing MK, source rising finally. 0830-0833 *Dumping snow at LA. WEA 100 3 0846-0847 *PT autostowed, commercial power glitch. Repointed. COM 100 1 1146-1149 *Dumping snow at LA. WEA 100 3 1343-1357 *LA elevation motor currents are getting too high WEA 100 14 due to the growing snow load in the dish. Ending observing there. 1357 End. Downtime Summary: Total downtime : 613 min Percentage downtime of observing: 10.4% Average downtime per hour : 6.2 min Total scheduled observing time (# Antennas): 5920 min (10) Notes: * = Entries where data was affected. % = Entries where data may have been affected. & = Entries where the site tech was called out. WEA = Weather entries. MF# = Maintenance form or major downtime category associated with a problem. %AD = The percentage of an antenna affected by a problem. AMD = Total antenna-minutes downtime for a problem. Tsys = System Temperature (TP/SP x Tcal/2) ACU = Antenna Control Unit FRM = Focus/Rotation Mount RFI = Radio Frequency Interference VME = Site control computer CB = Circuit Breaker vclock = Program that compares site clock time to a standard.
