VERY LONG BASELINE ARRAY OBSERVING LOG -------------------------------------- Project: RDV36 Observer: N. Vandenberg Project type: CDP Obs filename: rdv36crd.* Date/Day: 2002DEC11/345 Ants Used: SC HN NL FD LA PT KP OV BR MK =UT-Time===Comment===============================================MF#===%AD==AMD= 1744 Start. Op. D. Medcalf. vclock okay. GPS < 10 usec. Will probably see a lot of antenna position error flags for SC - these do not affect data. Webcams show overcast at HN and BR, foggy at NL, partly cloudy at SC, and mostly clear elsewhere. 1744-1804 *HN 4cm RCP Tsys about 75% higher than normal. 10229 50 730 1744 %Strong RFI in OV channels 5, 7, and 8. 1744 %KP - RFI in channels 5-8 seen occasionally 1759 Start at SC. 1925 %Raining at BR. 1933 %Now seeing RFI at HN, channels 5-8. 1941 MK wea: scattered cirrus. 1957 %Now snowing at BR. 2116 KP wea: clear, dry. 2243 New operator is Paul Dyer. 2257-2308 *SC Lost commercial power. Generator did not COM 100 11 start immediately. When it did I could not point the antenna. Called site tech and he was able to point from there. I can now point antenna from here. 2316-2319 *SC Autostowed when commercial power came COM 100 3 back on. 0000 Date is 2002DEC12/346. 0356 *HN WEA: Snowing. 0517-0518 *HN Put antenna in standby briefly to clear ACU 100 1 an EL #2 armature overcurrent error. 0531-0532 *HN Put antenna in standby briefly to clear ACU 100 1 an EL #2 armature overcurrent error. 0553-0556 *HN EL #2 armature overcurrent error again. ACU 100 3 0640 New operator is Jim Ogle. 0638-0733 *BR MCB errors on BBCs 2, 4, 5, and 7; IF 1, maser 10338 100 55 and the D-rack. The % AD is rated 100 because of the IF being affected (IF's A and B are from IF 1) and the maser. 0642 &BR tech called out. 0657 *Stowing BR since there's no good data coming through. 0722 *BR tech reports the problem is not with any of the power supplies, still checking. 0728 *BR tech rebooting VME. 0732 BR problems cleared by reboot, though site tech is concerned with some warning lights on the computer. Antenna repointed, observing again. 0733 *BR tech reports wet conditions, snow falling. 4cm Tsys values are high. 1020-1022 *SC autostowed, power glitch. COM 100 2 1020-1023 *HN autostowed, power glitch probably caused by the WEA 100 3 weather. 1259 SC reports light scattered low clouds. 1412-1415 *PT autostowed, power glitch. COM 100 3 1417-1423 *PT ran out of tape, site tech a bit late on the HUERR 100 6 tape change. 1429 New operator: T. Perreault 1429 HN wea: overcast, light snow, 2-6" of snow covering 100% of dish 1432-1446 *HN doing several snowdumps. Snow does not seem to be WEA 100 14 to be coming out. 1455 LA wea: scattered high clouds, no precipitation 1505-1804 *PT not observing. VME crashed at approx 1505 UT. SW 100 179 Site tech Kelly Gatlin called at 1520, said that he discovered that the FAIL light on front of the VME was lit. He did a reboot of the VME, the FAIL light came on again. He is going to try to reach Dr. Clark or Bruce Rowen. 1530 PT site tech Kelly called, said that he was able to get ahold of Bruce Rowen who will look into the problem directly. 1534 BR wea: low overcast, spot fog; ground and dish wet 1601 OV wea: cloudy, no precipitation 1610 PT Kelly called. The problem at PT has been traced to a bad 331 (communications controller) board. Replacement is going out, but will not be installed before the end of this program. 1726 PT at 1715 UT, site tech Eric Carlow called, said that they believe that the problem with the 331 board has been resolved. Since then the VME at PT has been rebooted twice (at 1719 and 1723 UT). While data are presently being recorded, there is a pointing error on the antenna. Will continue to keep this site logged as 100% down since data quality is questionable at best. 1743 SC observing ends 1804 End.
