   dish The diameter of the antenna dish is 25 meters (82 feet). The distance from its center to the subreflector above is about 30 feet. The photographer of this picture was standing on the opposite edge of the dish.
In the center of the dish stands the feed housing. The subreflector above is offset from the center so that it can be rotated on its axis to focus the waves into any one of the feed apertures. This system is called an offset cassegrain. It allows The VLBA antennas to be used for observations at as many as ten different wavelengths.Photo of the feed mount
